Each morning get yourself started off on a positive. When you are in the bathroom, take a moment to look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself a nice big smile.
At first this may make you feel a little self-conscious, but keep doing it. If you are not a morning person and smiles are a little hard to find, think of something positive that made you smile, a happy event, when your four legged friend did something they shouldn’t have but it still made you smile – (or in fact when they did something they should have!), and let that add to your smile.
Going into to the day ahead from this first smile, try to smile more throughout the day. Smile at neighbours, colleagues at work, and even people you don’t know. Give their day a lift as well as your own.
Research shows that smiling also increase productivity when performing tasks, relaxes the body and slows your heart rate, but also release endorphins that combat and lessen stress hormones.
